Palm Desktop rocks!

I think I'm probably way too excited about this. I have this weird thing where I have been constantly looking for a Personal Information Manager solution for as long as I can remember. Even back when I didn't need one. Anyway, I think I finally found THE system. Palm Desktop.

I mean this is just AWESOME. I love Palm Desktop. So organized and just the right font size, it's all perfect.

I've figured out that I can used the Address List functionality as a generic database. Check out my memorized view of items I need to pick up:

Once when she was a child, Samantha had a strange encounter with an elderly woman.

Sam had been walking into a store with her mother when she noticed the woman, her hair as white as soap, staring at the sky. She wore a puffy white down jacket against the cold november air as she walked slowly across the busy parking lot. The woman paid no attention to the drivers slowly following her or waiting to pull out of their spots. Sam fell behind her mother and watched the old woman. She looked up and saw nothing in the sky, then looked back at the woman, who was now looking directly back at her.

"Don't you see?" said the woman, on the brink of tears. Sam's mother by now realized she was not with her and had run back, taking Sam by the arm.

"Can I help you with something?" she asked the woman accusingly.

"Not if you cannot see..." was the weak reply as the woman began shuffling away, gazing at the clear blue november sky.

In Caribou, Groovy / Grails

Caribou is bussssy and 11 of the 20 people have laptops, three people with laptops just got rejected (no room)... two of the people without laptops are arguing over something about taking over payments and a warrant out for someone's arrest. It's great. :)

Groovy is really shaping up to be a great language. Been studying it for a project at work that will probably be in Grails - we have to use a Java based client API library (Yodlee - the same service that is used for Mint.com) but want to avoid the development costs associated with working in Java directly. I think this will be a good setup - Groovy has access to everything Java does and Grails is based on well established libraries such as Hibernate, Spring MVC, and SiteMesh among others things.
